Getting around, parking and the time change
Downtown will be busiest at three points: Saturday early afternoon, when the Red Wings game lets out while Youmacon is at its peak; Sunday from late morning to late afternoon, with the Lions game and the convention’s last day overlapping; and Sunday night for Maná. Plan on extra time and fuller garages in those windows.
- People Mover: Free, with a station inside Huntington Place. Youmacon lists extended hours: 6:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
- QLINE: Free along Woodward between downtown and Midtown’s Cultural Center; use the Ferry Street stop for the Detroit Historical Museum.
- Parking: The Detroit Historical Museum’s Kirby Street lot is $10. At Valade Park, use street parking or nearby lots and follow posted signs.
- Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, so you gain an hour of sleep before the Lions’ 1 p.m. kickoff.
